Last week we celebrated national nominees, tonight we are out in the world with album and artist international. The votes are cast and the nominees announced: The Schallwelle Awards are sealed. Episode 652

13 January 2023

It's already the second week into the new year. It seems to become an interesting one, with many changes ahead. Running websites, for example, urges you to update the systems once in a while. So just happened with syndae home. Not only tiny changes in its look but the whole technology was renewed. Same will happen to other pages I run. Also, the German empulsiv Webzine closed down end of last year. But there may be some kind of successor to it, re-focused maybe, but still keeping you informed about the scene (at least, if you understand German or use a proper translator). It's always a good idea to keep the good things but refresh dated ones. Now, on tonight's show you will find mostly new music. But each track and each artist definitely has a past. Join me for great music by Outlanders (We Own This Sky), Casey & Soeteman (Nonstruct), KS|Optionica (Fourteenth Listen), Conny Olivetti (Old Light Through New Windows), 4T Thieves (The Vinyl Loop), Klangwelt (Here and Why), Nheap XP (Inside Talk), Anodyne Industries (IDMf065 VA), Anatomist (Machine Music, Vol V), Reichenhall (Muschelkalk).

Episode 651

06 January 2023

What will it bring, this new year 2023? Is it really new or just an echo of the past one? 2022 was a desaster for EM fans and it ended no good with the passing of Steve Smith and Edward Artemyev. May the rest in peace. So, hopes are up for another 365 day rotation. And I wish you all only the best of the best. It does start really good with a number of live concerts due in January and March. And the German Schallwelle Awards are due as well. Old an new music alike will stay alive on syndae, as for tonight we have music by Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder (Live @ Dorfkirche Repelen 2), Alba Ecstasy (The Stargazer), Michael Brückner (Test of Time), Mike Hans Steffl (Successful Failure), Faber (Sequentium), Nautilus (A Floating City), Steve Smith and the Tylas Cyndrone (Pools of Diversity).

Episode 650

23 December 2022

Now, it's that time of year where many people feel the urge to group around trees or candles and try to be kind to each other. I hope for everybody out there to find some time to peace out and having people around who are kind, helpful, loving. Anybody deserves to be safe and to live in peace. Tonight's edition presents new and recent music that I think does give a bit of peace of mind and soul to you listeners. I hope all your wishes come true. And as this is the last show for 2022, I also wish you a Happy New Year which hopefully becomes less catastrophic. Meanwhile, enjoy great music by Erik Wøllo (the Shape of Time), David Vito Gregoli & Ricky Kej (Wild Monsoon), Brioskj (Afterthoughts), Elenniyah, Bernd Scholl (Light of the Moon - 25th Anniversary), Planet Boelex (Approach), Nheap XP (Inside Talk), Paulina Fae (Dreamwalkers Instrumental), Michael Brückner (Winter Volume 1), Meg Bowles (Voices from the Ethereal Forest).

A final move

Episode 649

16 December 2022

This year seems to be a sad one for electronic music lovers. As many of you will already have heard, Manuel Goettsching passed away at the beginning of this month. I've seen him live on stage several times, and especially remember when he got the Schallwelle Award in 2009. As Ashra, they played a concert that evening as well, and it was mesmerizing. Tonight's edition is kind of a tribute to him and his musical descendents. While not related, I picked some current releases that relate to the spirit of his legacy, at least from my point of view. Of course, closing up with a track of his. Please, find some pleasure in the music given to us by Time Away (Age of Sand), Cousin Silas & Glove Of Bones (A Brief History Of... A Second Volume), Rena + KiloWatts (Force Multiplier), Richard Anthony Bean ft. Paul Landry (Natural Progression), Tom Eaton (Shelter), Steve Roach & Byron Metcalf (The Serpent’s Lair), Ash Ra Tempel (Friendship).

Episode 648

09 December 2022

What is fate? Is it escapable? Well, I don't believe in a global concept of fate that defines one's life like a storyboard for a movie. But sometimes it seems that fate gets hold of you and changes the way you planned your own future. It's not a religious thing, but events providing means to change your perspective on things and what should be in store next for you. One usually assigns negative things to fate and ignores there are positive ones as well. But whatever life holds for you, there will always be a way to handle it and get on. And you should, as there is no second chance or choice. When it's over, it's over. So go on, because life is the only real thing you own. And you know what? Fate has great music for you tonight by moonbooter (Reminiscence), Faber (Sequentium), Andreas Baaden (Night Walk), Parallel Worlds (Plector), CIALYN (A Faint Past Beside Us), Kenneth Hooper (As the Crow Flies), Wilfried Hanrath (Midnightradio Compilation 113), D-Fried (Human is Human's master), Grosso Gadgetto (L'Orchestre secret), Coma Conscience (Ambient Sessions Compilation Vol. 2).

To the end of time

Episode 647

02 December 2022

What happens in billions of years? Did you ever think about it? Probably not. But some scientists did and set up a timeline for a probable future. It's about planets and suns shattering and vanish, about the Galaxy ripping apart, about star systems colliding, merging, disappearing. And about the end of everything, even time. No human will ever experience any of it. And, well, if any being does, they definitely won't remember this show or any of the scientists. But to get an aural impression on the events, join me tonight for the release of Future of the Universe with tracks by Aestheia, Orbital Hum, Xavion, Tuuligan, Cosmic Cadence, Wane of Summer, Roberto Sass, Ambient Indigo, Progeny -1, Ancient Astronaut and Time Away (Future of the Universe).
